A fruit by any other name.... This particular variety or cultivar of mango has many names.  It orginated in the Philippines where it is known as Carabo.  The galleon trade between New Spain and the Philippines first brought seedlings of this mango to Acapulco more than 200 years ago.  And over the years Mexico has made this their own calling it the Manila, now a favorite throughout Mexico.

What ever name you wish to call this excellent fruit it is a large size tree with dense canopy. The soft melting and juicy fruit with its pleasant aroma is typical of the Indo-Chinese type of mango.  This is an early season selection wieghing in at ½—¾ lb.

Mangifera indica "Phillipine"
